Draft on Taft

Charles Allen Avenue & 10th Street in Midtown. Saturday, 3pm – 10pm. $25.

Now in its 11th year, Draft on Taft is back and bigger than ever with all the food, beer, and live music you can handle to benefit a good cause. Your $25 ticket gets you as much Jersey Mike’s and Budweiser as you can fit in your stomach, as well as performances from Generation Now, Stevie Monce, and other local acts. The Fur Bus will take attendees to the official Draft on Taft after party at Tin Lizzy’s once the party’s over.

East Atlanta Beer Fest

Brownwood Park. Saturday, 1pm – 6pm. $35.

Enjoy craft beer, great food, and “Southern-fried country” music performed by local bands at the 8th Annual East Atlanta Beer Festival. The best part? After sampling over 170 brews, attendees will receive a free custom printed souvenir pint glass! Proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations in East Atlanta.

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival

Midtown. Thursday, 8pm – 10pm; Friday, 9:30am – 10pm; Saturday, 9am – 6pm. $50+.

Eat, drink & enjoy all that the South has to offer. Food and drink lovers will come together to experience the best Southern dishes created by award-winning chefs, sommeliers and mixologists. Interact with culinary experts such as Chefs Michelle Bernstein and Kevin Rathbun; discover the history and flavors of the South through food seminars, demonstrations, Tasting Tents, and one-of-a-kind dinners; and celebrate the rich food and drink traditions of the South.

Brick Store Yard Sale & Pancake Breakfast

Brick Store Pub. Saturday, 8am – 12pm. Free to peruse.

Decatur’s Brick Store Pub is famous for its craft beer selection and its assortment of glassware to match. This Saturday, you’ll get your chance to take some of the Pub’s great glasses home with you, as well as promotional apparel, casks, and anything else taking up space in the beer vault. Chefs Rian Tittle and Dano Gordy from Brick Store and Chef Wesley Kayyali will be cooking up a delicious breakfast, which you’ll be able to wash down with breakfast beers such as Terrapin Wake & Bake, Sweetwater Mean Joe Bean and more.

National Kidney Foundation 2011 Atlanta Kidney Walk

Turner Field. Saturday, 9:30am. Donations encouraged.

The 2011 Atlanta Kidney Walk, presented by the National Kidney Foundation, is a community based, non-competitive walk, that raises awareness and support for kidney disease and helps promote organ donation. The fundraiser is suitable for all people and ages and includes kidney patients, transplant recipients, donors, their friends, and family. More than seventy five percent of every dollar raised goes directly to support programs that help benefit kidney disease prevention, patient services, and much more. Join an existing team or register to start your own to begin contributing to the fund raising efforts and participate in this Saturday’s event.

CBS Atlanta’s Great Shredder Event

Coolray Field. Saturday, 9am – 1pm. Free.

Are old bills and electronics taking up space in your home? If so, head to the Coolray Stadium, home of the Gwinnett Braves, to securely and environmentally dispose of any unwanted personal documents and old electronics. Most personal information and electronics are permitted, but they will not accept kitchen appliances, and there is a $10 cash fee to recycle old televisions.

Grassroots BBQ Festival

Meehan’s Public House (Sandy Springs). Saturday, 1pm. Adults $7, kids free.

Enjoy some tasty BBQ and live music while supporting a good cause at Meehan’s in Sandy Springs. This event offers plenty of entertainment for the whole family, such as face painting, balloons and games, and an antique car show. Musical acts include James Arthur and Truett Lollis, Zaib Khan Duo, Scotty Cram Duo, Southside of the Tracks, and Nic Cowan. Cover charge begins at 3 pm, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that advocates for the rights of wounded warriors and their families.
