Here’s to Shakespeare!

book lightOn this day in 1613, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre burned to the ground. It was the most ornate theatre present in London at the time, and was built in 1597-1598. It could hold several thousand people and was a popular venue for civilians to take in Shakespearean plays.

Whether you are reading (or re-reading!) a transcription of one of Shakespeare’s plays or another literary work, avid readers can never possess too many bookmarks. Why not give your customers and employees this handy Bookmark Ruler with Pop Up Sticky Flags? It is always nice to earmark pages with important passages or quotes for future reference, and this way they will see your logo every time they reach for a book. A book light is another practical gift for bookworms who stay up until all hours of the night telling themselves “one more chapter!” By clipping this tiny but bright source of light onto their reading material, they can stay engrossed in their books without disturbing anybody else in the room or area.

Encourage your associates and clients to appreciate literature anytime of the year by providing promotional products to enhance their reading experiences.

A Special Holiday for Your Pearly Whites…

Concept Bright ToothbrushOn June 26, 1498, the earliest known toothbrush came into existence. It was invented in China, and was initially made from stiff, coarse hog hair affixed to bone or bamboo handles. In 1938, Dupont de Nemours invented the first toothbrushes to feature nylon bristles.

Good oral hygiene is highly valued in today’s world. As a whole, American society strives for brighter, whiter, and straighter teeth to try and emulate the star-quality smiles flashed by celebrities on the red carpet. Toothbrushes are the first item many of us reach for in the morning and the last thing we touch before going to bed, so custom imprinted toothbrushes are certain to impact the lives of your clients or employees.

Dentists, of course, often employ promotional toothbrushes as giveaways, but there are plenty of other professions that, using a creative approach, can effectively integrate dental hygiene products into their marketing mix. Any industry that requires extensive traveling, such as Consulting, should consider distributing practical items like travel toothbrushes or floss dispensers to employees or customers to increase your brand awareness.

In honor of this important day in history (and its implications for your teeth!), be extra precise with your brushing and flossing this weekend!

Homebuyers Need Promotional Products, Too!

America’s real estate market is slowly strengthening, with certain areas showing definite signs of improvement. Sales of existing homes grew by 2.4% from April to May of this year, and many first-time homebuyers are taking advantage of recently established state and national tax credits. Foreclosures and short sales present opportunities for many people to purchase homes that would have otherwise been out of their price ranges, and the current “buyer’s market” means that real estate agents and brokers need to work that much harder to satisfy clients.

Promotional products can be beneficial to realtors because they serve as a useful reminder to prospective buyers and sellers that they should choose to do business with you instead of your competitors. Real estate is an aggressive industry, and especially so during tumultuous economic times when people are looking for the best deals out there.

The popular saying “There’s no place like home” rings true for homebuyers, and what better way to remind them that your services can help them attain their dream home than with house-shaped key chains or photo magnets? By customizing these items with your logo, you will effectively start to build relationships with your clientele and make your contact information accessible to them whenever they seek real estate expertise.

Our Real Estate category has a multitude of products that can be custom imprinted and distributed to your patrons. The more familiar they are with your name and brand, the more likely they are to trust you to cater to their real estate needs in the future!

Spice it Up!

Looking for a way to season up your marketing efforts over the hot summer? Think back to those carnivals and fairs you attended when you were a kid… You’d play tons of expensive games just to win that cute stuffed animal. Apply that logic this summer to your marketing strategy. Why not add a contest into your normal marketing mix?! Whether for your internal employees, customers or both, a fun and interactive contest or game is a great way to boost business.

Develop an interactive game to include for a short time on your website. Let your clients know in an e-blast and drive traffic to your site. We can all get a little anxious on those beautiful summer afternoons. Send your customers a link to your contest or game and offer them a five-minute break from the stressors of the day. Have a little fun with your marketing! They’ll appreciate your efforts and remember you for it. Offer branded apparel and summer-appropriate prizes like picnic sets to winners. Participants have fun while participating and are always thrilled to leave with a prize.

When your prizes are fun imprinted products that promote your company, you make clients happy while boosting your business. And while you’re at it, don’t forget your employees! Have leftover giveaways from your contest? Use them at your summer employee cookout. The summer is a great time to show them your appreciation. Give out new corporate apparel or even an imprinted cooler. Its always a great time to show you care!

More Hours in a Day?

Well, maybe not more hours in a day, but more hours of sunlight each day… Can you believe the photo above was taken at 11:00 pm? Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, also known as the longest day of the year. A solstice can be defined as an astronomical event which occurs twice a year, when the Earth’s axis is tilted to the greatest degree toward or away from the Sun, thus bringing the Sun’s position in the sky as seen from Earth to its northernmost or southernmost extreme.

Fortunately for all those people constantly reiterating that “there aren’t enough hours in a day,” the Summer Solstice means more hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere. Solar-powered calculators or alarms are especially appropriate giveaways during summer months because of the few additional hours of sunshine each day able to power these energy-efficient products. Watches are other promotional items that make great summertime gifts or freebies, as extended daylight hours often interfere with peoples’ internal clocks- I know I tend to check my watch more frequently when the sun doesn’t set until 9:00 pm! Include an informational sheet or even a factual tagline on the item itself to educate recipients about the reason for the season.

Summer is a fantastic time to implement creative promotional campaigns and surprise clients and employees with unique giveaways that they can utilize all day long- particularly when every day around the solstice provides bonus hours for them to use promotional products custom imprinted with your logo!

Indulge in a Vanilla Milkshake!

Jonny2love-milkshakeDid you know that today is Vanilla Milkshake Day? Okay, I know it is 2009, but nobody can deny that retro diners are still thriving. All-American burger joints can be found in just about any city across the U.S.A., and all strive to emit the same classic vibe. Whether you own a diner or are looking for ideas to support a retro-themed event or campaign, there are many ways to create a 1950s-esque atmosphere. Have patrons expecting to walk outside and wave hello to Wally Cleaver with retro promotional products. If spacious booths and checkerboard tile patterns are out of your price range, keep reading for suggestions that are as effective as a time machine (and require nowhere near as much capital or time to create)!

Waiters and waitresses racing around the floor delivering burgers in a retro uniform shirt, preferably on roller skates, are a great starting point. The décor can further enhance guests’ overall experiences, and why not make items like custom imprinted retro clocks available for purchase? By putting them prominently on display, you will draw attention to your logo and convey your cohesive brand identity to others. For retro parties or promotional campaigns, a hamburger stress reliever featuring your brand’s logo or slogan is a witty and unique way to advertise your theme.

And last, but certainly not least, let’s not forget the topic of this post- milkshakes! Serve milkshakes in whatever trademark shape or size glassware you would like. Top each tasty drink with whipped cream and a cherry, and finish off your retro-themed ambiance or campaign. Happy Sipping!

Don’t Forget About Dad…

web4camguyThis Sunday is Father’s Day (and my baby’s due date), so I’m hoping my husband will get to celebrate his first Father’s Day. He has been very excited that our child’s birthday could land right on Father’s Day and hopefully be a very memorable day in our family. I’m just ready to have this baby… 9 months is a long time!

If you’re like me and have had a lot on your mind lately, you probably have waited until the last minute to find the perfect gift for Dad. It seems that most Dads already have everything, but catering to their hobbies and interests is the best way to guarantee he’ll be happy with your gift. My dad is obsessed with golf, so basically any golf-related gift is sure to be a hit from a premium golf shirt to personalized golf balls or a golf towel. Golf gifts are great because I know he’ll use the gift regularly when he is out on the course. Other great father’s day gift ideas are promotional tools for the handy man, computer accessories for the high-tech dad and a classic gift idea for any dad is a watch.

No matter what gift you decide on this Father’s Day, remember it’s the thought that counts. Spending quality time with the ones you love is the best gift you can give.

Confessions of a (Self-Diagnosed) Shopaholic

One of my favorite books happens to be “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” I find the main character easy to relate to, as my shopping habits also tend to be a little out of control at times (I can already see my mother reading this post and nodding her head in agreement! Hi Mom!)… I consider myself an expert on the latest fashions, and have quite a few style websites that I check religiously to keep up with what’s hot and trendy.

Now, I have only recently begun working in the promotional products industry, but I have already learned that the world of promotional items is very closely aligned with the latest developments in retail. With major department stores and organic food stores releasing Special Edition tote bags, chic totes have become visible in almost every category of retail shops.

Another craze that has exploded recently is organic cotton, which high-end designers are frequently using to manufacture incredibly soft, lightweight tees and tanks- the better the quality, the higher the price! The women in our office are obsessed with fitted tees, and the variety of available colors does not disappoint. This V-Neck version is another favorite, and will look great imprinted with your company’s logo! Your female employees or customers will want one for every day of the week, so order plenty of extras.

Men, don’t get jealous yet. There are plenty of available options for you that correspond with popular female styles. Organic cotton t-shirts for men provide the same exceptional quality and comfort as the women’s selections, or Pinnacle offers a slightly dressier 100% cotton pique sport shirt that can be customized with your logo or company name.

Don’t overlook the demands of fashion-conscious customers and employees- why give away promotional products in outdated styles when you can spend the same amount to purchase items that trendsetters won’t banish to the back of their closets?

They’re Everywhere!

This past week, months of planning came to an end as my new husband and I celebrated our wedding. As the celebration ended, we packed up and headed for a week of relaxation in sunny Mexico. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s just because I work in the promotional product industry. But as we landed in the hot Cancun airport, and I started looking for the red and khaki embroidered uniforms of our travel company, I couldn’t help but notice how surrounded we were by corporate branding.

From embroidered uniforms to vans marked with car magnets, travelers are instantly surrounded by the branding efforts of those in the travel and hospitality industries. From the initial pickup at the airport, this branding continues all the way into the guest room of the hotel. When we arrived at our resort, we found embroidered robes and slippers; printed bags for laundry service; soaps; personal sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner; dental, shaving, sewing, and vanity kits along with notepads and pens all branded with their logo.

We absolutely enjoyed the robes during our stay and I was greatly tempted to purchase the same logo-embroidered robe at the gift shop at the end of our trip. While I resisted the temptation, I did leave with a printed pen, a note written on paper from the imprinted notepad in our room, a sewing kit and a bottle of lotion – all with our hotel’s logo branded on each item.

The moral of my story? While I will never forget my honeymoon for more reasons than just the promotional items we received, the consistent branding and the helpful kits and supplies left a very positive impression on us. When you treat your guests, clients and customers with small – but thoughtful – items, you increase brand loyalty and boost your name recognition. With printed apparel and branded promotional items, you can turn a one-time guest into a lifetime customer! I can tell you for sure – my husband and I will be returning!
