Aside from a tornado that hit the center of the city about four years ago, we don’t really get a lot of extreme weather events here in Atlanta. However, that’s not true for other parts of the country. I’m originally from the DC area and my Facebook page is littered with status updates about Frankenstorm.
Meterologists say that the storm, nicknamed so because it’s supposed to hit close to Halloween, will be a scary mix of heavy rain, high winds and maybe even snow. It’s supposed to hit all down the East Coast, with the brunt of the storm hitting the New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut region. The storm is predicted to start on Sunday and stick around until Wednesday, Halloween.
Though utility companies are already on high alert, it’s important for people living in the area to be prepared too. Make sure you have flashlights with fresh batteries. Though you’ll need to take shelter when the storm hits, afterward there might be residual rain, in which case you’ll need a strong umbrella. If your power goes out, it’s important to stay warm (especially since they say this storm could possibly cause some snow in Eastern Virginia), so make sure you have lots of blankets.
Hopefully Frankenstorm will fizzle out before it does any damage, but you always need to be prepared. Stay safe, readers!
