Salvador Dali: The Late Work
High Museum of Art. Saturday, 10am – 6pm and Sunday, 12pm – 5 pm. $18, Free for Fulton County residents and Bank of America Cardholders.
Explore more than 40 paintings plus film, sculptures and photographs at the opening weekend of “Salvador Dali: The Late Work.” Highlights include a number of works that have not previously been available for public view and the “Assumpta Corpuscularia Lapilazulina,” which has not been on public display in over 50 years. The exhibit- focuses on the period from 1940-1983 – will be at the High until January 9, 2011 so don’t fret if you can’t take it all in this weekend.

Puckin’ Fuppet Show
Lenny’s Bar. Friday, 9pm – 12am. $10.
Yes you read that right. The “Puckin’ Fuppet Show” is “Atlanta’s premiere competitive adult puppet slam” featuring performances often understatedly described as rude, crude, and uproariously hilarious. A little homage to Tony-Award winning Avenue Q I’d imagine. Audiences vote as puppeteers vie for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes.

The Great Yellow Jacket Encounter
Georgia Institute of Technology’s Bobby Dodd Stadium. Saturday, 3pm – 6pm. Free.
Bring your crew to Bobby Dodd Stadium this Saturday, August 7th to enjoy fun, games, and food with the 2010 volleyball and football teams as well as football coach Paul Johnson. Fans can collect free autographs and snap some photos with the athletes at this family-friendly event.

Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project – Atlanta River Cleanup
Chattahoochee River Park. Saturday, 9am – 6pm. Free.
The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is traveling across the country, stopping at beaches, rivers and lakes in need of some sprucing up. Join them at as they work to keep the bank of the Chattahoochee looking its best. Post cleanup, volunteers 21+ are invited to enjoy a selection of Barefoot Wines during a celebration from 4pm – 6pm at the Cheyenne Grill.

Smyrna Birthday Celebration
Village Green. Saturday, 2pm – 10:45pm. Free.
In the afternoon, Market Village merchants are hosting a variety of family-friendly activities like games (with promotional product prizes, of course) and inflatables, plus a beer garden for the +21 crowd. As night falls, enjoy live music performances from opener Magno and headliner Banks & Shane, plus take in a spectacular fireworks show. Festival food and an enormous birthday cake baked by McEntyre’s Bakery are also part of the festivities.

WRFG’s Birthday Block Party
Little Five Points Community Center. Saturday, 2pm – 7pm. Free.
Come celebrate the 37th anniversary of WRFG 89.3 FM radio station with a block party fitting for the whole family. Just like the diversity of WRFG’s programming, there will be musical artists along with spoken word artists on the main stage. There will also be children’s activities along with food and vendors of all kinds.
