The New iPad

Yesterday, Apple announced the release of The New iPad (that’s the official name; it’s not called the iPad3.) on March 16th.

It’s hard to believe that it’s only been two years since the release of the first iPad on April 3, 2010. The use of the iPad has become nearly as ubiquitous as the iphone, with everyone from corporate leaders to children toting around iPads in stylish protective cases.

So, what’s different about the new iPad, you ask?

Well, for one, the screen resolution is much better. The New iPad contains retina display technology, making it capable of playing movies at 1080-pixel HD resolution. There have also been improvements to both the processing speed and the camera. The camera can now take pictures up to 5 megapixels. Sorry, no Siri here, but there is voice dictation mode.

The wi-fi versions start at $499 for 16GB and the 3G/4G capable iPads start at $629. What do you think? Will you be getting a New iPad next week?
