So what if it’s 90+ degrees out? The snow will be falling in Highlands this weekend. Don your santa suit and in celebration of 99Xmas in July. Start your Christmas list early, Santa himself will be there. Need more convincing? Enjoy complimentary Christmas-themed concoctions at six local bars.

King of Pops Art Extravaganza

East Atlanta Farmers Market. Thursday, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Free.

Cool down with a King of Pops confection and check out artwork inspired by the tasty treat! WonderRoot has gathered all of the King of Pops art and through a “like-off” on Facebook from 7/24-7/25 they will determine the winner. Visitors will have the opportunity to buy the “King” work. And the EAV Farmer’s Market is still going strong, so bring your reusable bags and cash to stock up on veggies, fruit and other local goods!

Jerry Day ATL

 

5th Annual Jerry Day ATL

Rosebud and The Family Dog. Sunday, 12:00 p.m. $25.  All ages. 

What a long strange trip it’s been and continues to be at the 5th Annual Jerry Day ATL.  Join fellow Deadheads in celebration of the life and music of Jerry Garcia.  There will be 12 bands playing on three stages, artists and vendors selling various goods and food from Fox Bros BBQ as well as Rosebud and The Family Dog.  Be sure to get your ticket early; a limited number of pre-sale tickets include a free adult beverage at the event.

Scavenger Hunt Atlanta

Scavenger Hunt Atlanta: The Underground Hunt

Underground Atlanta. Sunday, team up at 1:30 p.m.; race starts at 2:00 p.m. $10 per scavenger.

Fancy yourself the next Sherlock Holmes? Come see what you’re made of at The Underground Hunt this Saturday. Come with a team or alone (and be paired with others) as you explore Underground Atlanta, solving riddles, looking for clues and trying to be the first team to make it to the final rally point. This event is fun for children and adults alike and you’ll learn all kinds of fascinating facts about the Underground while you’re sleuthing.

Asian Cultural Experience

Asian Cultural Experience

Gwinnett Center. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. $10 for adults; $6 for students; free for children five and under. Free parking!

This Saturday and Sunday take some time to visit the Asian Cultural Experience. Enjoy fashion shows, exhibits of rare cultural artifacts, and a variety of demonstrations such as calligraphy and woodworking. Take a look into a Self-Defense class or attend a demonstration of a Korean wedding ceremony. The highlight of the event is the Performance Celebration, featuring the music and dance of 15 countries. In it’s 19th year, the Asian Cultural Experience is great for a day of learning and fun!

National Water Gun Fight Day

National Water Gun Fight Day 2012: Fight 4 ATL

Freedom Park. Saturday, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Free.

Come cool off in Freedom Park this Saturday and be sure to bring your super soaker with you! The National Water Gun Fight Day is a completely free and a fun way to beat the heat. All ages will enjoy this event.
