A Tribute to Margaret Mitchell: The Book That Touched the World

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind this weekend in Marietta, Georgia, where many scenes from the movie it inspired were filmed. Original cast members will be in town for the event, which will feature interviews, Q&A sessions, breakfast with the stars, and more. Attendees can purchase an all-inclusive weekend pass that includes admission to all events on Friday and Saturday or can opt to buy tickets for each event individually.

Peachtree Corners Festival
The Corners Parkway. Saturday, 10am – 6pm. Free.
The Peachtree Corners community is hosting its first-ever street festival for residents of Peachtree Corners and all its surrounding communities. The festival will offer a wide range of family-friendly entertainment. Parking and admission are both free so come enjoy food, live music, arts and crafts, and a car performance show for all ages.

Rebecca Loebe in Concert
Hard Rock Cafe. Friday, 8pm. $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
Did you happen to catch standout contestant Rebecca Loebe on NBC’s “The Voice”? Well, the indie-folk singer’s performance of Nirvana’s “Come as You Are” landed her in the Top 10 of the iTunes Alternative Chart and the Top 120 of the iTunes Singles chart. The Atlanta native returns home for two shows this weekend. Catch her live Friday night at Hard Rock Cafe or Saturday night as part of the lineup of the Benefit for the Decatur Cooperative Mission at Eddie’s Attic.

Atlanta Under 40
Ri Ra Irish Pub. Thursday, 6pm – 9pm. $10.

Brookhaven Beer Fest

Head to Apple Valley Road this Saturday for Brookhaven’s very first beer festival supporting the Brookhaven Arts Alliance. Admission includes beer tastings, a commemorative glass, the opportunity to purchase food and artwork from local restaurants and artists, and live music from High Fidelity and Ian Schumacher. And take note: you’ll save a few bucks if you purchase your tickets online in advance.

Atlanta Phoenix Cat Society Show
Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Saturday and Sunday, 10am – 4pm. Adults $6; Under 12 and over 55 $5.
Attention cat lovers: we’ve got the purrrfect event for you this weekend! The Atlanta Phoenix Cat Society will host the CFA’s annual awards dinner and show for the Southern region just outside the Atlanta kitty limits this Caturday and Sunday. Hundreds of pedigree cats will be showing off and signing pawtographs for the judges and general public from 10 to 4 each day, and a number of purrfessional vendors will be on site selling unique cat-related products. Oh, and don’t forget to stop at a shelter on your way home – June is Adopt a Cat Month, after all!

Summer Stroll on the Mile
Midtown. Saturday, 11am – 7pm; Sunday, 12pm – 4pm. Free.
Stroll down the Midtown Mile – the part of Peachtree Street between North Avenue and 15th St. in the heart of Midtown Atlanta – this Saturday and Sunday and enjoy live music, art, local food, trunk shows, and family-friendly fun along the way. And don’t worry about the heat – the King of Pops will be on hand with refreshing treats to cool you down!
