Superhero Day
Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Sunday, noon to 4pm. Included with museum admission (Adults $17.50; students & seniors $16.50; children $15.50; 2 & under free).
Celebrate the Super Dad in your life this Father’s Day with loads of super games, activities, and kid-friendly entertainment at Fernbank Museum! Come dressed as your favorite superhero (or villain, as long as you’re on your best behavior) and get your picture taken with costumed characters, show off your best feats of strength in the game corner, or make your own superhero to give to Dad for Father’s Day.

Midsummer Music & Food Festival
Candler Park. Saturday, noon to 11pm. Free.
Red Stripe and 790 The Zone have teamed up this year to bring you the MidSummer Music & Food Festival at Candler Park. Enjoy live music from JJ Grey & Mofro, Dr. Dog, Robert Randolph & The Family Band and others throughout the day, as well as food from 20+ members of the Atlanta Street Food Coalition (like Yumbii, Rattletrap, and the King of Pops), a mini market, and more. Admission is free, but 21+ attendees must pay $5+ for a wristband to enjoy beer and cocktails.

Decatur Beach Party
Decatur Courthouse Square. Friday, 5pm – midnight. $7 advance; $10 at the gate; children 12 & under free.
What do you get when you combine beach music, face painting, 60 tons of sand, wading pools and boardwalk games? The Decatur Beach Party! Proceeds from this annual event help fund lots of free events in Decatur, such as Blue Sky Concerts, Concerts on the Square, July 4 fireworks, the Bonfire and Marshmallow Roast and the Easter Egg Hunt.

5th Annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social
Garden of St. Philip’s Cathedral. Saturday, 12:30 – 2pm. $15; children ages 5-10 $5; 4 & under free.
Looking for a delicious way to kick off your Saturday afternoon? Head to the garden at St. Philip’s Cathedral to taste a variety of creative ice cream and sorbet flavors concocted by local chefs and amateurs using local ingredients. Proceeds benefit the Atlanta Chapter of Slow Food International and the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, which takes place at St. Philip’s Cathedral Saturday mornings from 8:30 to noon.

DASH4DAD Atlanta
Sandy Springs. Saturday, 8am. $25.
Join Men’s Health and Wellness and ZERO – The Project to End Prostate Cancer on Saturday, when the DASH4DAD 5k series comes to Atlanta. The race is part of the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge, America’s premier men’s health event series, taking place in 27 cities in 2011. Sign-in & on-site registration begins at 7:00 a.m, but participants are encouraged to sign up early: pre-registered runners will receive a premium cotton commemorative t-shirt and an assortment of goods and coupons.

Is your best furry friend overdue for a bath? Bring him or her to Piedmont Bark this Saturday, where Panther L/L pledges will be providing dog baths between 10 and 3 to benefit PAWS Atlanta. A $10 donation is suggested.
